How To Repair Concrete Expansion Joints
How you repair a concrete crack is dependent on
where the crack is located and on the condition of
the crack. Using the wrong crack repair solution
could result in the crack re-forming, or in new cracks
forming.
To repair expansion joints that aren’t wet or letting
in water, you want to use a Polyurea Elastomer joint
filler like the Armor JFX35 joint filler.
Armor JFX-35 Repair Kit
The Armor JFX-35 is highly flexible,
allowing small slab movement, but
strong enough to protect the vertical
edges of concrete from spalling under
extreme loading. It can be used on
interior and exterior applications
(exterior applications when little joint
or crack movement from thermal
cycling will occur.) Exposure to
ultraviolet light may cause
discoloration, however the physical
properties are unaffected.
Preparation
Clean the area of concrete dust, debris, and
contaminants (such as oils, loose materials, dirt,
etc.). The cleaner the area, the better the bond.
Make sure the area is dry and free of water or
moisture.
Application
The Armor JFX-35 Joint Filler is a two part, 1:1
mix ratio by volume, 100% solids system. Simply
insert the cartridges into the gun and the system
is ready to be used.
Dry Time
The Armor JFX-35 Joint Filler takes
approximately 10-15 minutes to fully dry. For
large cracks, dry time might be slightly longer.
