states and benchmarked internationally.
Teaches a more focused set of major math concepts and
skills. (Deeper rather than broader)
Gives students more time to master important ideas and

Homework
Designed to ‘hardwire’ a known skill through
practice
Should be:
 Done independently
 Foster self study by utilizing the resources
 Not be a source of conflict
 Not exceed 30 minutes*
 Mindful that “Practice Makes Permanent”
How you can help…
 Foster independence, perseverance, self reliance, and
confidence
 Regularly review your child’s work
 Establish a homework routine
 Use the support systems – Google calendar, blog
 Create opportunities for your child to be the teacher
 Be a role model by making math connections
◦ Pose real world math challenges for your child to solve
 Please do not let math become a source of conflict
between you and your child
 Strive for automaticity with mental math
THANK YOU!
I look forward to working in
partnership with you this year.
