2. 1. Show and/or tell us about
your problem of practice.
Part of my job is helping to solve any
problems our online students and teachers
may have within our online learning
environment. One problem that arises from
time to time is students being unable to view
PowerPoint presentations because they do
not have PowerPoint software.
3. 2. Identify it as a well-
structured or ill-
structured/complex.
I believe this problem of practice is well-
structured because the problem is best
solved by using SlideShare. Using
SlideShare completely solves the problem
because there is no longer any need for the
students to buy or download software.
4. 3. Explain how you will use
your chosen tool to address
the problem.
Presentations can be embedded directly into
course sites and/or links could be given to
students. I could provide instructors with
tutorials on how to create and embed
presentations for their courses.
Presentations can also be shared on
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and
blogs.
5. 4. Tell us why you think this
will work.
Using this site, presentations can be viewed
without having to download, sign up or pay
for the services. Likewise instructors can
create their presentations without having to
download or pay for the services, they will
however need to sign up for their free
account. SlideShare is a community for
sharing presentations, and other
presentations pertaining to topics discussed
in the course may be available to view.
6. 5. Identify any unique
affordances that the digital
tool offers that other
approaches do not.
I think the numerous opportunities to use
SlideShare within social networking and
other websites definitely gives this digital
tool that extra something special that you
may not find when using say Google Docs to
share presentations with students. You also
have the opportunity to add audio although
this is definitely made easier with the Pro
accounts.
