‘Queen’ and ‘Haider’ took away three trophies each.
Vikram Bahl’s ‘Queen’ won the award for best picture and
story apart from the best actress award. Shahid Kapoor
bagged the award for Best Performance in the Leading
Role - Male for Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’ while Tabu’s
powerful portrayal of Shahid’s mother in the film won her
the best supporting actress award, says Vaikundarajan.
3. Shahid dedicated his win to the film’s director and
said, “I would like to thank Vishal Bhardwaj for this
recognition. A very big thank you to him for believing in
me. Today I am standing here because of him. It was a
scary film to do because we thought people will never love
and understand this film,”
Director Raju Hirani won the best director for highly
acclaimed PK . He said, “This film fearlessly talked about
religion in the country and I want to thank my father and
mother for it. Like Subhash Ghai, I also feel a film is
incomplete without the help of technicians and actors,”
Actress Deepika Padukone took home the woman of
the year award and she dedicated it to all the women
4. across the globe. “This award is for millions of women,”
said the Finding Fanny star. While Bollywood’s showman
Subhash Ghai was honoured with the prestigious award
for “outstanding contribution to Indian cinema”, says
Vaikundarajan.
Riteish Deshmukh grabbed the award for Best
Performance in a Supporting Role - Male for his villainous
act in Ek Villain. There was also an award for Best
Regional Film, which went to Riteish-starrer Marathi film
Lai Bhaari, co-produced by his star wife Genelia
Deshmukh. National Award-winning director Omung
5. Kumar got the Best Debut Direction award for Mary Kom,
says Vaikundarajan.
Also on completing 1000 weeks of screening last year
a special tribute was paid to Shah Rukh and Kajol starrer-
Dilwale Dulhani Le Jaaenge at the function, says
Vaikundarajan.
