7. Methods Behind the
Writing Madness
I'm sure that many would argue that they have the
ability to set goals in they're mind, and writing them
down isn't necesserary. After all, the human mind is
advanced and capable of many things. This is by no
means an attempt to discredit the brain but, assist
more on the burdens of setting and prioritizing
goals more effectively by writing them down.
8. Methods Behind the
Writing Madness Cont.
• The demands of the ever-changing world
sometimes restrict us in our progress toward
our goals. These distractions sometimes divert
us from implementing our plans successfully.
Even the best thinkers forget the most
important things especially when distracted.
Therefore, writing down your goals could aid
in ensuring that they are met, This simple
formula could mean the difference between
achieving goals or feeling overwhelmed by
them ending in failure to obtain them.
10. No goals vs mindful goals vs written goals
84% of People with no Goals
14% of People with Goals in their Heads
3% of People with Written Goals
Research found that those who had goals in their head were 10 times as much to fulfill them as those with no goals.
However, those who had written goals were 30 times as much to fulfill their goals than those with goals in
their heads.
Dr. Gail Matthews, a psychology professor at Dominican University in California, did a study on goal setting with 267
participants. She found that you are 42 percent more likely to achieve your goals just by writing them down.

Editor's Notes
When someone mentions the word goal to you, what comes to mind? An overall long-term desire? Maybe fulfilling short-term obligations. Goals are plans for the future that you are yet to achieve. Some goals are general in nature such as having a successful career, having a family, and saving plenty of money. However, there are goals specific to each person based on their personal beliefs and motives. How does a person know what goals they should set or how they should go about achieving them? With this presentation, I hope to encourage individuals not only on how to set goals but, why they should be written down.
REVISE***
S.M.A.R.T. Goal Parameters- The following are attributes of parameters used to ensure effective goal setting. They address factors in setting productive goals for yourself. Let's dive in, shall we? The first attribute is specificity. Having a specific desire whenever you set goals brings more clarity to the planner. As a planner, you must know exactly what you want before establishing a strategy. A clear view of your path forward is the beginning of proper planning. Is your goal measurable? In other words, how will you go about monitoring your progress? Is your goal achievable? Everyone should have goals, but even those with goals must ensure that the goal is achievable. Is this a realistic goal worth reasonably trying to achieve or is it out of my grasp? When it comes to the achievability of a goal, it must be realistic. Now as we continue on with the parameters we come to Relevance. Is this goal relevant to what it is I want to achieve overall? Is this productive or destructive? I'm sure that we could all agree that the progress of your goals is also determined by the relevance of the work put into it. Lastly, let's address the Time-Bound portion of the SMART campaign. Monitoring your progress alongside the other attributes is also determined by time restraints. Are these goals short-term or long-term? Are there things that must be done before a particular time to stay relevant as a goal? As you can see thus far, the SMART parameters if applied can increase the possibility of establishing clear goals and achieving them.
When your consider the parameters in goal setting, in application this is what it might look like. (Read Questions) If you notice I put two asterics on the last question. What method am I utilizing to keep record of my efforts and progress? Goals that are set and planned should have a means of progress checking. How do I know that I'm making progress in the right direction? Maybe I'm keeping a mental note or even receiving reminders from others. Those are effective ways in which many utilize to monitor goal progression. However, there is another method which has proven to produce higher results.
This brings me to the other half of goal setting which is the importance of writing those same goals down. Let's get into the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHY, and HOW of Writing Goals Down.
Writing down your goals has been shown to provide many benefits. An overall higher level of thinking amongst attributes has been shown to occur just by simply writing goals down. When you look at being able to feel a sense of worth as well as an articulation of your thoughts clearly, recording your written ideas and thoughts is well worth it. After all, who would pass up the opportunity to take more control of achieving their goal?
