2.2. PORK PRODUCTION IN THE COMMODITY SECTOR
The total production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in agricultural
enterprises in September amounted to 1,021.3 thousand tons in live weight, which
is 1.5% (+14.8 thousand tons) higher than in August 2020, and 4.7% (+46
thousand tons) more than in the same period in 2019. Agricultural enterprises,
which now account for about 90% of the total output of meat (in live weight), have
increased the production of all types of meat compared to the previous month.
Over the year, the dynamics are positive in almost all sectors (output of small cattle
for slaughter decreased), with the maximum increase in pork production.
Pork production in the commercial sector in September reached 404.6 thousand tons (lwt), which was
1.3% up against August 2020 (+5.3 thousand tons). The decline in production in the North Caucasus, the
Urals and the Far East did not have a negative impact on the overall dynamics, since the leading producers -
the Central Federal District, the Volga Region and the Northwestern Federal District - increased their output of
pork by 5.7 thousand tons (lwt) in total over a month. Over the year, the decline was recorded only in 1 district
- in Siberia. The main increase in production was provided by agricultural producers of the Tula region, the
Republic of Tyva and the Penza region.
