Industrial Process. In this presentation,

aluminium extraction, from the raw
materials to the final product. We will

Bauxite Mining
Bauxite is the primary raw material
used in aluminium production.
Mining bauxite involves the removal of
topsoil and vegetation, followed by
the extraction of the ore through
blasting and digging. The ore is then
transported to a processing plant
where it is refined into alumina.
Alumina Refining
Alumina is extracted from bauxite
through a chemical process that
involves crushing, grinding, and
digestion. The resulting slurry is then
heated to remove water and create
alumina. This process is energy-
intensive and produces a significant
amount of greenhouse gases.
Electrolysis
Aluminium is produced through the electrolysis
of alumina. The process involves passing an
electric current through a molten mixture of
alumina and cryolite. The current separates the
aluminium from the oxygen, which is released as
a gas. The resulting liquid aluminium is then cast
into ingots.
Challenges and Opportunities
The aluminium industry faces several
challenges, including high energy
