1. 10 Godly Traits of a Christ Follower
The walk of a person who follows after Jesus Christ / His spirit is one that
transforms, refines and totally changes a man as he draws closer to the Lord.
In our experience ( both in our lives and others ) we have learned there should
be important key biblical signs in the life of any person who confesses Christ
as their Lord and Savior. Thankfully Gods word describes and teaches them
to us clearly to help us in our journey.
Here are some concepts that we have come to test ourselves against as we
walk in obedience to His ways.
**************************************************************************
*1) You have a real testimony of salvation (a changed life in Christ) resting in
His righteousness alone for eternal life to come.... no works!
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed
away; behold, all things have become new
*2) Your entire life and worship is under the fullness of Gods truth and word,
not man's modern religion, and is bearing godly fruit.
John 4:24 Jesus said ...God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must
worship him in spirit and in truth.
Matt 7:17 Jesus said Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a
corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit
John 15:8 Jesus said Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so
shall ye be my disciples
*3) You have a biblical world view and your life actions and beliefs are
matched to God's Word.
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your
own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you,
except ye be reprobates?
2. *4) You are always working to separate your life from this current fallen world
system
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by
the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any
man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
James 4:4Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of
the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world
is the enemy of God.
*5) You have an undying love of the brethren and show it openly
1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we
love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through
the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another
with a pure heart fervently:
*6) The man is the spiritual head of his wife and she is submitted to his
authority, as he loves her as Christ loved the church.
1 Corinthians 11:3But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ,
the head of woman is man, and the head of Christis God.
*7) You are uncompromising in His truth. You desire to learn, know and
practice all He has revealed to us.
Luke 13:24 Jesus said...Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I
say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
Acts 24:16 This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without
offense toward God and men.
*8) You desire biblical fellowship, correction, accountability and you practice
church discipline.
Matthew 18
Jesus said...Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault
between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your
brother. 16
But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that „by the
mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.‟ 17
And if he
3. refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the
church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
*9)You are always striving to grow in being set apart (separation) for God.
1 Peter 1:15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in
all your conduct, 16
because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
*10) You test all things against God's Word to see if they are true and good
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever
things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever
things are lovely, whatever things areof good report, if there is any virtue and
if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.
Yes, there are more of course but these are some foundational areas based
on God's Word.
Note: It is important to keep in mind that it only takes one of these key areas
to be out of biblical alignment and your life is then wide open to satans attack
that can destroy and steal God's way.
Example: you can have the most spiritual and biblical mind and life but if you
let your guard down and allow habitual sin or connection to this worlds
carnal ways... you have defamed God's own ( your body/mind ) and
disobedience and sin now has a foot hold in your life until you kill it (repent) for
God's glory.
We have learned to strive for these things daily in our own lives and to be
VERY wary of those who claim Christ and know these concepts yet they don't
desire or have these at work in their walk for His glory and truth. You must
discern them for your own life and encourage others to strive in them as well.
Consider these truths and walk in a way that is worthy of the King!
