that the groups gave riskier
advice than did a sample
of approximately 200
individuals deciding alone.

1961 and similar result have been
obtained since.
4. INFORMATIONAL
People may hear more
persuasive arguments from
others, counteracting their
initial uncertainty before
hearing others’ opinions on
matter.
5. NORMATIVE
Because people don’t want to
stand out and possibly be ridiculed
or excluded for holding an
opposing opinion, opinions and
information that are in agreement
with the groups apparent view get
shared more than information that
goes in opposition.
6. POLARIZATION
Description
In groups , people tend to be more
extreme in their decisions.
