The YWCA of Greater Portland is hosting an event called Offkey 2010 on June 26th to welcome and celebrate the city's next generation of leaders. The event will include a karaoke contest modeled after American Idol with local influencers as judges. Proceeds from the $20-$25 tickets will benefit the YWCA's programs that provide services to women, children and families. The event will be held from 8pm to late at the Wieden + Kennedy building in Portland and will feature food, drinks and performances from the city's young professionals.

We’ve worked with Reprezent London on and off over recent years, so we were ecstatic when they brought us in to help deliver Reprezent Essex - a sister station to the capital's leading youth-led radio station - in collaboration with the NHS. The aim? To broaden awareness of mental health in young people, most of which were unsure of how to get support and learn more about the topic.
Working with Reprezent’s head of partnerships and content Kate Jaggers, project manager Alex Mashti, and some of the London-based presenters, we immersed ourselves within the county’s youth ecosystem, using relevant culture, language and insight, we engaged influencers to help us launch the station, recruited young people for 3 radio production training courses across the county, and delivered a series of events. Reprezent Essex was launched as a space where the county’s young people could campaign on important social matters in their own way, often leading the conversation by themselves setting the agenda and broadcasting packages exploring mental health and its facets on air.

The 12th Annual Hopeworks Dinner will be held on October 20th from 5:30-9:00 PM at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ. Close to 300 people will gather to honor Camden Mayor Dana Redd for her commitment to improving the city and helping youth. The event will feature FOX 29 weather anchor Kathy Orr as emcee and include a silent auction, networking, and text-to-give campaign. Five Hopeworks youths will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship and one will speak about how Hopeworks has impacted their life.

BYA Ambassador Launch May 2012

The programme, spearheaded by former rapper Swiss, will enable young people to campaign for change as ambassadors representing black youth. At the launch, ambassadors will give 60 second summaries of their success and participate in a Q&A session. Throughout 2012, ambassadors will visit schools and youth programs to promote black achievers and motivate peers. The director of BYA said the programme will provide positive role models to counter negative stereotypes of black youth.
