You've Got Personality
Most of us give lip service to the fact everybody's unique. But we really don't understand how unique each of us are. DNA ten to power of 2 billion zeros! To write it out, paper 37,000 miles long! Universe particles 10 with 76 zeros One of a Kind
Based on the teachings of International Society for Krishna Consciousness Founder Acharya: A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada His Divine Grace
When I say you're unique, that's not a theological statement. That's a scientific fact of life. When Krishna made you, He broke the mold. No copies. No duplicates. There never has been, there never will be anybody just like you .

Some babies are born cooing and loving and complacent. They're so much fun! Other babies come chomping on a cigar saying, "I dare you to make me smile!... I'm going to take on the world!" Any of you who are parents of multiple children and have watched the dynamics at the dinner table you think how out of my loins could this diversity come? Personality: Nature or Nurture 18,000 Personality Traits
Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting: The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star, Hath had elsewhere its setting, And cometh from afar: Not in entire forgetfulness, And not in utter nakedness, But trailing clouds of glory do we come From God, who is our home: Heaven lies about us in our infancy! Shades of the prison-house begin to close Upon the growing Boy, But He beholds the light, and whence it flows, He sees it in his joy; The Youth, who daily farther from the east Must travel, still is Nature's Priest, And by the vision splendid Is on his way attended; At length the Man perceives it die away, And fade into the light of common day. Wordsworth (1770 - 1850)

Personality Influences Every decision you make How you deal with change or don't deal with it, how you solve problems What makes you happy/sad, what you think is funny and what you don't think is funny at all, says a lot about the kind of work you should be in, the kind of person you should marry .
How you relate to God. Some people relate to Krishna in a quiet, meditative, contemplative kind of way. Some people relate to God in a very emotional, loud kind of way.
Because we're all so different we have great possibility of conflict with other people. I can't assume you think the way I do. I can't assume you feel the way I do. We're all different. As a result there is conflict. Most of your problems in life are people problems and most of your people problems are because you don't understand that Krishna made us all differently .
Three factors on how to increase your personal skills with people. Eighty percent of the people who fail in a job do so not because of a lack of ability but because they don't know how to get along with other people. The number one thing employers value in an employee is the ability to get along with others.
1. Be aware of personality differences . The more you understand how people act the more PATIENT you are with them. If you're not aware of this, you'll misjudge them, you'll misunderstand them, you'll become impatient with them and you'll be living in constant conflict with the people around you because they are different.
You probably married your opposite. God's sense of humor. If one of you are extroverted, the other is introverted. If one of you likes variety, the other likes routine. If one of you are structured the other is unstructured. If one of you reveals their emotion, the other tends to conceal their emotion. "Why aren't you more normal like me?"
Bhima & Droupadi
Be careful not to destroy your child by trying to mold him into some preconceived pattern . Yudhisthir & Bhima: Brothers, who viewed exile differently Caution to Parents
2. Accept personality differences. Devotees wouldn't have gotten along in any social setting. Some thoughtful, some impulsive, some zealots, some have hard time believing, some ultra conservative, some liberal. KRISHNA USES ALL.
"Accept others just as Krishna accepts you." I have discovered that people who look up to God, rarely look down on people. If you look up to Krishna, you don't look down on people because you realize that He made them all. Differences are not a matter of right or wrong, good or bad. They're just different. Krishna loves differences.
“ I learn this truth; as we grow smaller, love of God grows greater. As love of the Lord discovers no upper limit, humility finds no lower.” Great souls yearn to become less and less.” Ravindra Svarup
When you criticize someone else, you are using yourself as a reference point. You're setting yourself up as the standard for all personality. "Generously make allowances for each other because you love each other." That can save your marriage. Stop trying to change your mate to be like you. Not only be AWARE of differences but ACCEPT those differences .
3. Appreciate personality differences Boring world without differences. Differences provide balance. We're all necessary parts of the same body. To be Krishna Conscious means to see the value in each of the differences He's given to people.
"Have a profound respect for each other." How do I appreciate somebody with negative characteristics? Look behind and see a negative character trait is often a positive being misused. Hyper critical all the time - is just misusing the positive characteristic of discernment. XXX Bossy all the time, is misusing responsibility. Impulsive all the time is misusing flexibility.
Look behind the negative and see what is being misused. It just needs to be channeled. Many of your children, rather than trying to change their negative points, help them to realize that properly disciplined and brought under control and directed, can be the source of their very success. Next slide is your homework.

In our world, the number of dysfunctional people is increasing. Why? Few have understood or appreciated what Krishna made them to be. "I don't think anybody understands me. I don't think anybody accepts me. I don't think anybody appreciates me." Krishna does. X If you'll commit to Him, He will help you develop the personality He gave you to its greatest potential .
These three words are words we value here at the Krishna temple. We want to have an atmosphere that is AWARE of people's differences, that ACCEPTS people's differences, and that APPRECIATES them and values the diversity. You can have unity in a church without uniformity. You can have differences without division . UNITY IN DIVERSITY

Righteous Anger Liberated personalities often apply so-called vices in devotional service. Hanum an vented his anger upon Ravana , the enemy of Lord R ama .
Lord K rishna instigated Arjuna to become angry so he would fight the Battle of Kuruk shetra . Lord Chaitanya became angry at Jagai & Madhai

Personality is Permanent At night we see everything as one in the darkness, but in day, when the sun is up, we see everything in its real identity. Identity with individuality in spiritual life is real knowledge .

Krishna wants us back in our relationship with Him. So, when we want to uncover our real selves, He helps.
There are services to the Lord such as hearing about the Lord, chanting His name and His glories, & remembering Him, which are purely on the spiritual platform and are equally available to everyone, regardless of personality. However, when it comes to whether one should manage a temple or a temple garden, be a renunciate or get married, we should look not at what is considered 'best' in theoretical terms, but rather what is best for the individual according to his or her personality. ISKCON Communications 1988
In its mission to spread pure dharma, service to God, around the globe, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is faced with the challenge of establishing unity in diversity : One absolute spiritual principle must be adapted to the various social and cultural conditions of this relative world.
The one absolute spiritual principle, the transcendental teaching of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, is hari-nama sankirtana, the congregational chanting of the holy names of God.
“ By chanting Krishna ' s holy name, one gets relief from all the miseries of material life. But extinguishing the fire of material existence is only a preliminary consequence. Gradually, love of Godhead becomes the absolute necessity of life, the dark veil of ignorance is lifted, and one gets a glimpse of absolute knowledge. As the devotee advances, he feels ever-increasing spiritual ecstasy overwhelming his heart. This spiritual joy expands at every moment, and eventually inundates him in a tidal wave of Love of Godhead.” Renunciation Thru Wisdom
