The KingsWay School held its first kids' duathlon on March 20th. The duathlon involved competitors from KingsWay and other local schools competing in running and cycling events in different age groups. The goal of the event was to promote physical activity and community engagement. It was a success with over 100 competitors. KingsWay hopes to make the duathlon an annual event.

Singing together is powerful. It helps us express our emotions, teaches us to harmonise our differences, and makes us feel part of a community. It also provides an opportunity for language learners to improve pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary and confidence in speaking. For international students living in Australia, a choir can become a family, and a home away from home. It’s a safe place to make friends, improve English, and explore a range of feelings.
In 2018, the first annual Raise Your Voice choir festival for international students was held in Brisbane. In these slides, Vicki Bos and Donna Cook share some of the goals, benefits and outcomes of the 2018 festival, and let you know all about the upcoming 2019 festival. Transporting the 30-40 foot long, six inch diameter pole required using Mike's large cargo van, with one end hanging out like a lance. The Maypole tradition originated in medieval Europe as a fertility ritual where villages would erect tall poles and decorate them, and men and women would dance around them. Mike established the Maypole tradition at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in the 1980s, setting up the pole annually for dancing and decorating by children and adults each spring.

On Friday 29th March 2019 we welcomed Stuart Irvin from St Catherine's Argyle Church to both P1-3 and P4-7 Assemblies. The children enjoyed spotting ways Stuart had changed his identity as he told the story of the Road to Emmaus. Mr Hunter led the P1-3 Assembly in Ms Anstruther's absence and thoroughly enjoyed receiving a Birthday badge! We celebrated pupil achievements and sang the Spring Chicken song.

Celebrating schools October 2010

Damson Wood Nursery and Infant School received a Silver Award from Solihull Neighbourhood in Bloom for their gardening activities. The duathalon was organised by the PTA in partnership with the Auckland Council. It was the first event of its kind for the Hibiscus Coast community.
