One of the summer schools or field courses listed is compulsory for all current Year 1 students depending on their degree course. These courses form a major part of the Year 2 Skills module. It is not possible to delay attendance until the end of Year 2 unless there are exceptional circumstances. Students considering changing to a course requiring BS212 or BS213 field courses must attend information sessions and complete registration and medical forms.

FIELD COURSES AND SUMMER SCHOOLS
Each summer school or field course forms the major part of the Year 2 Skills module for your degree
course. One of the below (depending on your degree course) is compulsory for all current Year 1
students. It is not possible to obtain permission to delay attendance until the end of Year 2 unless there
are very exceptional circumstances.

BS212 and BS213 Field Courses
If you are considering changing to a course which requires you to take BS212 or BS213, you should go to the
information sessions. To be eligible to attend the BS212 or BS213 field courses, you will need to complete a field
course registration form and a medical questionnaire (available at the information sessions). Failure to complete
and return these forms to the appropriate organiser means that we will not be able to book a place for you on the
relevant field course. Students that undertake BS212 or BS213 will be required to undertake an additional
compulsory module, BS257 Career Development and Research Skills for Ecological and Marine Scientists.
