While the virtual content varies in depth and location over time, triggering the eyes’ accommodation reflex to focus to different focal planes, the image remains focused at a fixed depth away from the eyes (fixed focal plane). This conflict results in inferior vision experience, and causes discomfort and visual fatigue, especially for near tasks with VR/AR.
