Sport is a very importlant part of human live.
Thousands years ago in Ancient Greece
Olympic games were organized. The
Ancient Games included running events,
a pentathlon (consisting of a jumping
event, discus and javelin throws, a foot
race, and wrestling), boxing, wrestling
and equestrian events. The Games
officially ended in 393 AD, when the
emperor Theodosius I decreed that all
pagan cults and practices must be
eliminated.
In Russia sport was very
important too. It began in
sport games and physical
exercises, that were
spread in national life.
They were lapta, games
with ball, fisticuffs,
gorodki, driving in a
sledge and many other
amusements.

Baron Pierre de Coubertine

After the ban of the Olympic games The Olympic
idea of the ancient races had not disappeared for
good. The desire to revive the Olympic mindset and
culture spread throughout Europe.
At the end of the 19 century Frenchman called
Baron Pierre de Coubertine decided to try to revive
the Olimpic games. In 1896 the Olimpic games
began again after nearly 15 centuries. With the
revival of the Olympic games new Olympic history
began.
There are very many famous sportsman in Russia.
Champions live in big cities and small towns
There are 41000 people in my town of Kurchatov, but we have famous
sportsmen too. We have a strong school of fencing. Our famous fencers are:

Сhildhood of Yana Ruzavina


Yana was born in
Kurchatov, Kursk oblast, in
1982. She was a very
active child. She tried many
kinds of sport before
fencing. She started
practicing fencing in 1990.
Yana gave fencing 21 years
of her life. Her first trainer
was Anastasia Kirilova.
When Yana began to win
competitions, she wanted to
win again and again.


Ruzavina failed for 3
years. She couldn’t do
anything. Her trainer, family
and friends supported her.
But Yana managed to
overcome herself and won
all her awards. When
Rusavina won
championships she felt that
the whole world was at her
feet. In 2006 she became the
best fencer of Russia.




Though Ruzavina
finished her sports
career, she didn’t leave
sport. Now she is
engaged in refereeing.
Yana wants to do
coaching. She wants to
transfer all what she had
been taught to young
fencers
There is one more
victory in Yana’s life.
She hasn’t won the
Olympic games, but she
says that this medal is her
son. Now he is 3. Yana
thinks that he must do
sports. It’s not important
whether professional or
not.
Thank you for
your attention
