3. Do we really need
Security Guards
inside a
Bank Branch,
Specially at night?
4. Lets have a look at
responsibilities of
Security Guards
deputed at
Bank’s Branch.
5. During Working Hours
To create deterrence.
To control entrances and check people
entering and leaving the branch,
specially to prohibit weapons.
To check packages.
To give directions.
To discourage misbehavior.
6. After Working Hours
To monitor property to protect against
fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal
activity.
To immediately inform concerned
people in case of any
incident/accident.
8. Security personnel are the weakest part of
Security Systems
In most bank branches security guards are found
to be negligent. Usually they are untrained when
controlling entrance.
Fact: We cannot rely on Security Guards to
prohibit weapons inside bank’s premises.
9. In most bank robbery
cases it is seen that
security guards surrender
before the bandits or do
not offer resistance.
10. Bank robbers strike again; loot Rs.9.9m
Saturday, August 22, 2009
This week’s second big bank robbery was reported in the Bahadurabad police limits
with six armed men robbing Rs9.9 million and managing to flee. . .
. . . The guards did not put up any resistance. The bank had also pressed
the security alarm of the Phoenix Security Agency, which also failed to
show up on time. . .
. . . The security guards posted at the bank by different security agencies
also fail to deliver protection.
In most bank robbery cases it is seen that security guards surrender
before the bandits or do not offer resistance, they added, stressing that the
heads of these security companies must be questioned why their personnel fail to
provide the required protection. In fact, in many robberies at banks or money
changer outlets it was found that the security guards were involved.

on April 29. According to an official statement on

14. KARACHI, Aug 15: Bandits robbed a bank of cash and valuables worth
millions of rupees by breaking open the lockers using gas- powered welding
equipment in the small hours of Friday.
The close circuit TV cameras, which often provide valuable clues
to police in bank robberies, were not working at the time of the
robbery. These cameras were activated only during the office hours, DSP
Salman said, adding that they had requested the bank branch to check if
the system might had been left in the working mode.
However, since the bandits didn’t take away the recordings of the CCTV it
could be concluded that they were quite sure of the fact that the
cameras were not functioning at that time, a senior police officer
pointed out.
SSP Saddar Dr Amir Shaikh told Dawn that he suspected the involvement of the bank guard. He was
of the view that the guard’s escape suggested his involvement in the robbery. He said that around
40 per cent bank robberies took place with the connivance of the security guards
deployed at the banks.

16. Conclusion
During working hours, guards are useful only to
As they are not effective to control entrances and prohibit weapons,
it is recommended to reduce number of guards during the day and
keep only what is required for above mentioned jobs. Preferably un-
armed guards.
Security guards must not be allowed to stay inside the bank after
closing. And it doesn’t make sense to let them stay outside the
branch, while knowing that they mightn’t help, when needed. Simply
stated, no guard must be deputed in the bank at night.
• Create deterrence.
• Check packages.
• Give directions.
• Discourage misbehavior.

25. Bandwidth Utilization
Xentinel ES2 is specially designed to offer centralized
monitoring of CCTV without making a big impact on
bandwidth utilization.
It can even work with existing bandwidth because it
requires bandwidth only when there is a requirement to
watch the branch otherwise system is not utilizing
bandwidth. Parallel recording is done locally in the Xentinel
ES2 Machine and does not require use of bandwidth.
Therefore, DSL internet can be used as a medium between
branches and control centre, which is a cheaper solution
as compare to Fiber Optic connection.
27. LETS SEE HOW THIS GREAT
PRODUCT PAYS FOR ITSELF
It eliminates need of security personnel at night.
Average monthly cost of maintaining 1 security guard is Rs.20,000 approx.
(including additional overhead costs).
Monthly Cost of 2 Guards: 2 x 20,000 = Rs.40,000
Yearly Cost of 2 Guards: 12 x 40,000 = Rs.480,000
Price of “XENTINELL ES²” = 275,000 PKR
ROI - 7 MONTHS
THEN ITS ONLY PROFIT
No need to tell a Banker that the bank will save a lot in insurance too.
29. ES² Installation
Installation of Xentinel ES² will be completed in three phases:
Phase I
Development of Communication module enabling ES² to communicate
with existing security devices installed in the branches. It takes 2-3
months depending on existing security equipments.
Phase II
Installation of ES² in one or more branches on trial basis. Necessary
adjustments and fine tuning will be done in this phase. Testing will be
done for at least a month.
Phase III
After successful completion of trial, ES² will be installed in all branches.
Approx. 50 branches will be completed in one month.

31. The XENTINEL WatchDog a GSM controller
and Alarm Unit. It allows you to monitor and
control an alarm or remote stations or
equipments or machines by SMS.
It can transmit data from apparatus
(thermometer, humidity meter, electric meter,
flow meter) to user or monitoring center by
XENTINEL Control Center
32. The XENTINEL WatchDog can be used as:
A switch with SMS remote control.
SMS texts for switching particular terminals on/off are configurable.
A timer-switch which can be activated automatically.
It can be used as preset when the GSM Controller need work and when it need not to work. The user can set 6
appointed time.
A relay with dial-in remote control.
Up to 10 tel. numbers can be authorized for it. Because calls are not answered dial-in control within GSM is free of
charge. (it only checks the caller ’ s number and - if the number is authorized - responds with relay activation.) This can
be used for parking latch control, gsm gate opener, remote control machine, etc.
An automation system.
Each input can link to output actions, this is very useful when the temperature upto appointed value, need switch on the
air-conditioning immediately, or when water overflow and need switch on the dryer, or when somebody broken into the
door or windows need to start the CCTV and Siren.
A SMS reporter.
The 4 Inputs activations or deactivations can be reported by SMS and optionally confirmed by phone calls. Each input
can have its own message texts and the message can be programmed by users.
A GSM Alarm system
The user can arm it or disarm it by SMS. Also, the first input can be used as Arm or Disarm button, the other 3 inputs can
be used as door sensor, motion sensor, temperature sensor, water overflow sensor, AC power failure sensor, oil pressure
sensors, etc.
Central Monitoring
A GSM Remote Terminal can work with the Control Center, in the Control Center, the can remote monitoring and control
the remotely terminals by GSM Network. This is very useful to street light control, wellhead control, BTS environment
monitoring, power transmission system monitoring and other applications.
