The CNMV receives regulatory reports from various entities in different formats, making the data difficult to reuse. The CNMV started using XBRL in 2005 to standardize definitions and facilitate data sharing with other agencies and investors. Now the CNMV uses XBRL taxonomies for listed company public reports, investment firm risk reports, and collective investment vehicle quarterly reports, receiving over 24,000 reports annually in a consistent format. The CNMV also provides a free online viewer for analysts and investors to access and compare standardized financial reports from multiple companies.
