Rajasthan produces around 50% of the world's marble and generates millions of tons of waste from marble mining and processing each year. This waste comes from quarrying overburden and undersized material, and from cutting, polishing, and grinding during processing. Exposure of this waste can cause environmental problems like air and water pollution, damage to vegetation, and visual impacts. Proper management of marble waste is necessary to mitigate these problems and conserve resources. Some ways marble waste is being managed include using it to replace other materials in concrete and bricks, which increases strength while reducing costs.
