The 10th annual World Quality Report found that 99% of respondents now use DevOps practices. The focus has shifted from whether to adopt DevOps to how to refine existing DevOps approaches. Customer satisfaction is now the top priority for QA and testing strategies. Challenges with test environments are hindering efficiency gains from trends like faster release cycles. Teams must acquire new skills like AI, IoT, and blockchain testing to keep up with technology changes. The report identified that the top test environment challenges are cost, defects from misconfiguration, lack of booking facilities, maintaining multiple versions, and visibility of untested areas.

It outlines the steps to identify the topic, determine relevant practices, survey stakeholders to collect current practice levels and importance scores, perform a gap assessment to identify differences between current and best practices, validate the results in a workshop, and conduct a gap analysis to prioritize areas for improvement. The report found that while agile adoption has improved delivery times and costs for many organizations, some still struggle with quality in agile projects. It provides recommendations for organizations to improve quality practices like implementing agile quality orchestration, focusing on test automation and data strategies, integrating quality into sustainable IT initiatives, and defining quality metrics aligned with business value. Hand Rolled Applicative User Validation Code Kata
Could you use a simple piece of Scala validation code (granted, a very simplistic one too!) that you can rewrite, now and again, to refresh your basic understanding of Applicative operators <*>, <*, *>?
The goal is not to write perfect code showcasing validation, but rather, to provide a small, rough-and ready exercise to reinforce your muscle-memory.
Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
The code is my rough and ready translation of a Haskell user-validation program found in a book called Finding Success (and Failure) in Haskell - Fall in love with applicative functors.

- 1. World Quality Report 2018-19 The results from the 10th anniversary edition of the World Quality Report are conclusive: 99% of respondents are now using DevOps practices in their organizations. It appears the focus is no longer on whether to move to DevOps; rather on how to refine their DevOps approach and improve continuously. World Quality Report 2018-19 Findings: • Customer satisfaction is front and center – Participants in the WQR reported that ‘Ensure user satisfaction’ is at the top of their QA and testing strategy. This would have been unthinkable ten years ago. But with customer-centered innovation driving digital transformations and the adoption of agile, DevOps, and a move to the Cloud, it is also resetting the expectations for testing. • Challenges with test environments are holding back quality assurance and software testing efficiencies. A problem further exasperated by industry trends like reduced test cycles and releasing more regularly. • The skills required for quality assurance and software testing have changed. Adoption of agile and DevOps, as well as technologies such as AI, Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain, all require specific technical expertise, and teams must be prepared to acquire these new skills, whether by training their existing team members, or hiring specialists into the team.
