World Environment Day 5 June 2008 Sharing My 10 Incentives to Going Green
Issue We All Face I have heard my mother said that. Now that I have a family of my own, I am saying the same thing too!
Incentive No 1: Reduce Cost of Living "It is getting more and more costly to raise a family!"
How can doing 3Rs help? I can create with scraps for my children their school concerts teachers’ day their friends
For My Children
For School Concert
For Teachers’ Day
For Their Friends
Incentive 2: My Personal Development Reduce the cost of picking up new hobbies. Improvise tools for hobbies. Innovate with scrap material to learn.
Incentive 3: Prevent "Treasured Discards" from becoming "Discarded Treasure" Find ideas to keep things that are of sentimental value for me from being discarded. Example: Transform a favourite t-shirt into a bag.
Incentive 4: Raise Funds The best way to show appreciation for non profit projects that you support is to donate money to help them run. The easiest and best way to raise funds is through recycling.
Incentive 5: Protect the Environment Do you know that the production of one gold ring generates 20 TONS of mine waste? I am using stainless steel, which is 100% recyclable, in my creations.
Incentive 6: Resolve Problems In the Neighbourhood and other areas of my life. Dog poo in the park concerns me as my son plays football there. It is health hazardous and unpleasant to step on. It can affect community spirit when one is against neighbours rearing dogs or taking them for walks in the park. The solution? Creation of dog poo scoop.
Incentive 7: Spiritual Wellbeing Hindu spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi, lovingly called 'Amma' or the "hugging saint" wrote: "Religion Is a Bond Between Man and Nature" RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IS ABOUT LOVING NATURE
Incentive 8: Enhancing the Memory
Incentive 9: Fruitful Influence Doing what I say and doing what I do; my children has gone green with their idea to collect bathwater to wash their shoes. Way to go children!
Incentive 10: Just the way I like to be remembered. You don’t have to kill or rob the bank to be in the news. Just try reducing, reusing, recycling waste. That’s how I make it to “ The Star” on 3 rd June 2008. “ Homemaker shares recycling tips through the Internet” - By NASA MARIA ENTABAN - Star Metro.
What did my kids have to say about this? “ Mom, you are famous. Maybe the US President will invite you to the White House”. Yes, they have watched the movie, “National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets” “ I save discarded treasure, kids. Not the National Treasure”.
