About Women in Tech, Scotland:
An open network of female digital technology professionals
Informal
Social
Glasgow based
Using the Meetup platform, which supports social connections around topics
Cross-sectoral and supports networking
Conversation post Christmas between the three founding members about the lack of opportunities for women to get together in a supportive professional setting led to a decision to form the group.
We decided to use the meet-up platform as it was open and would give us access to a network of potential members. We have over 100 members in a very short space of time so we think there is a need for the forum.
We are aware that other women in technology forums exist and some have contacted us: we’ll be hearing from Scotland Women in Technology this evening, we’re aware that Girl Geeks Scotland has just had a re-launch, although at the time of setting up our group they hadn’t been active for some time, and we’ve had contact with BCS Women Scotland group. We think there is a place for all these groups and would hope to collaborate with these groups as appropriate.
