2. You will NOT find the term WOKE as used in the modern cultural sense in the
Bible.
What you will find is a well – known passage in the book of John that
demonstrates the very actions, attitudes, and outcomes of Woke ideology.
In chapter 9 of the Gospel of John, we are given the historic account of Jesus
healing a man blind from birth. Christ gives a insightful teaching on the topic of
Blindness.
This account plays out in complete alignment with today’s social, political and
cultural Woke ideology. The Parallels are Astonishing!
The concept of BLIND mirrors the current reality of today’s WOKE. They are the
same phenomenon.

They then call in the man’s parents
They then call the Now Sighted man back for a second exchange
Jesus meets with the now sighted man and he received SPIRITUAL SIGHT!
Some Pharisees question if they we indeed blind. Christ answers with a question.
5. Highlights and Insights
This man was NOT blind because of the sin of his parents or himself. He was not even blind by accident.
He was Purposely and intently born blind by God for HIS glory.
This was not a chance encounter. Jesus healed the man on this day by design.
The Pharisees could not and would not see the healing for the wonderful MIRACLE that it was. They
could ONLY SEE that the event occurred on the Sabbath. They set themselves up as the elite Just.
To them this was a grave SIN and proof that Jesus was not from God but of the devil. There is a division
of OPINION in regards to the events validity.
The sighted man could not say how he was healed but could only confirm that ” I was blind, but now I
see”.
The Pharisees did not believe his account and even doubted that he was really once blind.
The summoned the man’s parents
6. Insights continued
The parents would confirm that he is their son and the he was indeed born blind.
They defer answering on HOW he received sight.
The man is again called back to answer (the same) questions.
He attempts to reason with them and challenged their assumptions. He states that
ONLY a true servant of God could perform the miracle that restored his sight.
The Pharisees excommunicate him
The Man then meets with Jesus. He confesses his faith.
Jesus teaches that he has come to ‘give sight to the blind, and to blind those who see’.
7. Talking Points and Scriptural
Analysis
• It is not doctrinal to teach that illness and disability or any other thing is the result of
sin.
• The blind man did exactly what Christ instructed
• Witnesses were there to confirm and attest to the events
• The Pharisees reveal what side they are truly on by failing to celebrate the miracle of a
restored life. Instead they focused on the technical point of it occurring on the
Sabbath.
• The Pharisees are Close-minded and UNTEACHABLE.
• They believe that they alone represent God and Moses and are in the right side of the
issue.
• They believe that Jesus and those who follow him are on the wrong side and are
enemies of God.
• The Parents FEARED being cancelled by the Pharisees. This is why they declined to

• Jesus states that he came to “give sight to the blind”. That is – he wants
those (all of us) who do not acknowledge the need for salvation, to
acknowledge the need for salvation.
9. • Jesus states that he came to ‘blind those who see’. These are those who THINK THEY
SEE. PERCEIVE THAT THEY SEE. In their own mind they are ENLIGHTENED
• Those who SEE in their OWN strength and wisdom. These self willed individuals are
deceived. They are truly BLIND but their pride in self, prevents them from truth. In their
minds they SEE.
• They fail to ACKNOWLEDGE their SIN and the NEED for SALVATION.
• Therefore they remain LOST. It is in this context that he BLINDS them. He allows them
to remain in their blindness.
• 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 says this, ’But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that our lost: In
whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the
light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto
them.”
10. • The Pharisees who asked Christ, “are we blind?” - PROVE that they are indeed BLIND.
Why?
• JUST BY ASKING THE QUESTION!
• You do not need to tell a blind person that they are blind. They KNOW that they can’t
see. And surely when that blind person receives sight – THEY WOULD KNOW! , “I CAN
SEE”. This would later be followed by, “Boy, Was I Blind!”
• Those who were once blind and NOW can indeed see, would KNOW – “Wow! I CAN
SEE!”. They would not have to think about it. They would not have to ask for
confirmation.
• So, by asking Jesus, “are we blind?”, they are demonstrating the fact that they are indeed
BLIND.
• This is why Jesus said in response, PARAPHASE - ‘If you had been a blind person that
acknowledged your blindness, you would have known your deficient (sin) and accepted
my offer for sight (forgiveness/salvation) and you would truly now SEE. But you still
believe and state ‘WE SEE’ (self – proclaimed). Therefore, You are still in your sin and
unforgiven”.

• The fundraiser was to provide clothing for the Trans Community.
• Christian community in the area gather to pray and protest this activity as un Biblical and

• On the surface this does not appear to be the same as Stephan’s story. Yet, it is. Cultural
needs were to be met. Distribution was the issue. HOW and by WHAT MEANS is the issue.

• Paul’s ministry successes in Asia Minor meant that masses of people were coming
the faith in Christ.
• If they truly converted and changed, they would by extension, leave behind

• Demetrius, a local business owner and silversmith realized this and fears that profits
would be reduced DRAMATICALLY. He was less offended by the FAITH issue but
used it as a means to ‘stir’ up the people. He could careless about their spiritual

even know what it was all about’.

Blind Business, economic and financial interest co-opted the spiritual
and religious concerns. In attempt to manipulate and control the
masses of people in society, the business sector injected itself into the
social lives of the citizens. Industry used emotions and fear to get the

know why they were there! The misinformed are the easiest to control.

• After days of final teachings, He is betrayed by one of his own, arrested, and falsely
accused.
• The Blind religious leaders had NO authority to lawfully kill him. They had to bring false
charges and false witnesses to the Roman Government to do their bidding.
• King Herod and Pontius Pilate found “no fault” in him. The accuser’s failed to make their
case.
• Pilate wanted to proceed with a light sentence and then release him. The Blind
DEMANDED his EXECUTION. They and their blind followers offered to exchange the

The Political Blind were used by the Religious Blind to satisfy their
position of authority, privilege and power. The Religious leaders lacked
legal authority to kill Jesus so they had to seek help from the Roman
government. They also ’feared’ the people, for Jesus had a large

arguments and evidence brought to the political authority lacked proof
of guilt. It was fabricated and misrepresented by false testimonies, and
false witnesses. Herod was weak. Even through he knew Jesus was NOT
guilty, he feared the political backlash in challenging the Chief Priest,
Sadducees and Pharisees. Pilate was weak as he feared that the region
that he governed would become a powder-keg if he did not give the
angry crowd what they wanted – EVEN KNOWING THAT CHRIST WAS
NOT GUILTY! He feared Caesar would blame him and take his position.
