Whitcomb L. Judson was an American inventor from Chicago, Illinois who invented the zipper in the late 19th century. Born in 1844, Judson created the zipper, a device used to quickly fasten and unfasten garments by means of a sliding clasp that "zips" or "unzips". His important invention, the zipper, is still widely used today in clothing, bags, and other items.
