Windows Server 2016 introduces a new container platform that allows applications to run within lightweight isolated containers without the overhead of virtual machines. Containers can be quickly created and destroyed on Windows Server 2016 which provides better utilization of server resources than traditional virtual machines. Windows Server 2016 supports both Windows Server containers that isolate applications from each other and Hyper-V containers that virtualize the operating system.

There’s lots of new stuff in this release, including better high availability for Hyper-V, greater control over resource utilization, improved fault tolerance of transient events, newer design options for stretch or multi-site clusters, a whole new way of doing software defined storage with SATA and NVMe drives, built-in block-level storage replication, and hyper-convergence without having to break the bank.

Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”. All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
