There are six key reasons why countries should invest in youth policy: 1) It makes economic sense by strengthening future growth and protecting industries; 2) It brings together stakeholders from different sectors to work cooperatively; 3) It drives progress in priority development areas like poverty, education, employment, and health; 4) It establishes frameworks to create successful youth programs; 5) It supports and commits to young people; 6) It honors regional and international agreements that promote youth rights. Developing effective youth policy requires consulting young people, coordinating across sectors, using data, and implementing policies to provide opportunities for youth.

The Union Cabinet approved the introduction of the National Youth Policy-2014 to replace the 2003 version. The new policy aims to empower India's youth to achieve their full potential and help India's standing globally. Nigeria’s first National Youth Policy1 (NYP), the framework that guides all matters related to youth development in Nigeria, was first formulated in 1989. This was followed up with a new National Youth Policy under a democratic dispensation in 2001 by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports. The 2001 NYP made provision for a review every 5 years. A revised one was developed and adopted by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in 2009. In 2016, the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development (FMYSD) — the ministry responsible for youths in Nigeria — kick-started a review process that is two years late. Nevertheless, for such a document to be comprehensive, it is important that Nigerian youths, for whom the policy was originally designed, are part of the process.

The Child Health Agenda in the Context of the SDGs Pfaffmann

This presentation provides an introduction to sustainable development goals (SDGs) and how Jamaica can align its national development plan with the SDGs. It defines development, outlines the 17 SDGs which succeeded the Millennium Development Goals, and explains how the SDGs provide direction, benchmarks, and a transformational framework for development. It also discusses how Jamaica's Vision 2030 national development plan aligns with achieving the SDGs through categorizing existing goals and identifying any gaps to address by 2030. Partnerships between public and private sectors are important for financing development and achieving the SDGs.
Youths and National Development in The Gambia
It is obvious to postulate that there is a linkage between youth and national development. Due to the challenges facing youths has been attributed to the lack of a comprehensive policy to provide a blueprint for youths. Therefore, this study interrogates the role of youths on national development in the Gambia and the intercourse is not only symbiotically connected; but, one depends on the other for its sustenance. The study is descriptive and data obtained from secondary and primary sources. The findings in the study revealed that hostile political environment, institutional settings and public policies among others has been major setback, however, the Gambia youths are still pertinent to national development due to self-help projects in various local governments in Gambia especially projects that involve trade, commerce, small and medium term enterprises and agriculture. Also, on religion awareness, conflict resolution and security, like the Youth Crime Watch The Gambia (YCWG) engage the necessary measures to address all vulnerabilities that may tend to destabilize the country. Since the wheel of development of any country lies on the shoulder of how productive and creative the youthful populations are with over 63.55% of 2.2 million populations. So, therefore, this quantum of population is a great asset for the Gambian state if they are harnessed and utilized in the right direction. The Gambia National Development Plan (2018-2021), constitution and policies should be pluralistic for youth representation, and just in their treatment of the Gambian citizens.

India has the highest number of youth population in the world at 356 million aged 10-24. The document discusses the important roles Indian youth can play in achieving sustainable development goals through education, entrepreneurship, politics, management, civil service, academia, health, sports, and as responsible citizens. It argues that if Indian youth utilize their potential and make some simple changes in thinking and work, they can drive significant progress in addressing India's problems through initiatives like improving education, healthcare, infrastructure, and reducing corruption. Accelerating MDG Achievement - Stories from the Philippines
The UN Millennium Campaign supports a project in Misamis Occidental, Philippines that trains community members and children to advocate for achieving Education for All (EFA) by 2015. The project works to increase policy support and influence at the local level to bring out-of-school children back to school. It uses a two-pronged advocacy approach of pushing needed policies and building community capacity. Youth volunteers in Clarin municipality collect bottles and cans to fund education for children, helping to support the local EFA campaign goals.

The Global Youth Action Network (GYAN) is working to promote greater collaboration among youth organizations and improve youth engagement in decision making. GYAN has partnered with the United Nations on various initiatives, including facilitating youth participation in UN processes and establishing Youth Advisory Councils. GYAN also works to highlight positive contributions of youth through awards and media coverage of inspiring stories. A four-part strategy has been devised by GYAN to place young people at the forefront of efforts to achieve the eight Millennium Development Goals.
