1. Who Holds the Media Accountable
I first started listening to news in the 1960’s, delivered by Walter
Cronkite on CBS and Huntley, Brinkley on NBC and have trusted the
reporting of the news all my adult life, but I have never felt more
uncomfortable and concerned about the way the news is delivered, as I
do today.
It appears that the accuracy of the news events are being intentionally
misinterpreted and distorted by the major media outlets in order to
support a much bigger political narrative. In some cases news events are
withheld or never reported at all, because of the potential political
ramifications. It doesn’t matter whether you are listening to the liberal
media outlets or the conservative media outlets, the propaganda bias
seems to be their primary objective of the broadcast.
I sometimes find myself channel surfing through the various network
stations during the news hour, in order to find ways to gather more
accurate news information by interpreting the ways the various media
delivers the news. I just wish there was a news channel that had no axe
to grind and no bias to uphold and reported the news without a heavy
emphasis on a bigger political narrative.
It’s gotten so bad that most all of the late night shows on the major
networks are chiming in to present the most politically charged humor
possible, in order to make their own statements and manipulate how we
should view the events of the day.

2. I know I may be naïve, but I wish there was a news outlet I could watch
that didn’t have a political agenda and instead had a goal to present the
news fairly and objectively. Maybe the answer is to boycott the news
programs entirely and encourage others to do the same, until the
ratings get so bad that the advertisers put pressure on the news
producers to report more objectively.
Who in this country is checking the media to make sure the news is
being presented in a factual way without bias and where can we go as
citizens to demand that they stop sensationalizing the stories they
report?
