2. What Are Conventions?
 Conventions are a way in which something is
usually done, and these in terms of media can
be split into two separate forms;
 Technical – How denotations are portrayed
using equipment
 Symbolic – Ways of showing denotations

3. Using Conventions; Video
 Music videos are either three different types;
Performance, Narrative or a Combination of
the Two. I used the conventions of real media
texts to help create the best video.
 Many different shot styles, such as handheld
and extreme long shots
 Lip Syncs
 Cuts in time with the beat of the song
 Rewind similar to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Drunk’ video

4. Using Conventions; Digipak &
Poster
 Record Label placed on the poster
 Legal info on the back of the album inspired by
Arctic Monkeys album
 Continuous inside cover

5. Developing
 Hip Hop Videos using feature lots of high-end
prestigious products;
 This was shown at the earlier stage of the video,
in terms of the actor with a high-end job in the
suit.

6. Challenging
 Women haven’t been sexualised in my video;
 The woman is shown to be professional, caring,
reassuring & helpful
