A Tribute to All Mothers
What Was I Thinking by tabitha ang
What was I thinking …
when in this little bubble I stayed …
so peacefully …
What was I thinking …
when by this warm breast I was fed,
so securely
What was I thinking …
when I stretched out my hand
and met this loving hand
so assuringly
What was I thinking …
when my butt got soiled with those smelly stuff
and these diligent hands came to ‘rescue’
so willingly
What was I thinking …
when the first mouthful of broth
into my toothless mouth was fed
so yummy
What was I thinking …
when I stumble and fall
and these strong arms lifted me up
so instantly
What was I thinking …
when the gentle voice of prayer
I heard beside my little cot
so lovingly
Yes, finally I figured it out
To thank God for creating mom
And making you my mom
That in times of my needs
I am here to receive
And so through you, the Lord I may see
What was I thinking …
when this memory gradually gives way
so cruelly
What was I thinking …
when these eyes blurred … and these ears heavier …
so mercilessly
What was I thinking …
when these shoulders a little slumped
and the back a little bent
so helplessly
What was I thinking …
when in the rocking chair you sit alone
recalling the days past long ago
so vividly
What was I thinking …
when this often blurted out of your lips
“ When I was your age …”
so unconsciously
Yes, finally I figured it out
To thank God for creating mom
And making me your child
That in times of your needs
I am there to render
So through me, the Lord you may see
I love you, mom !
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. (Proverbs 31:28)
Blessed Mother’s Day The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; The LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. ( Numbers 6: 24-25)
