1. What it Means to be a Witness
Our theme Scripture John 1:1-6
Without being a witness – The Spirit of Truth his voice is silent
Witness is a person who sees an event. One who has personal knowledge of
something, example of religious faith
John begins his introduction by declaring the importance of the Word
• Only the Word can be used as evidence (John 1:13-14)
• The Word was established before the foundation of the World
(Genesis 1) The Word creates inner change in the image of Yahushua
• John’s testimony reveals awareness he is knowledgeable that
Yahushua existed before he did (John 1:15) Malachi 3:1; 4:4-6
• Although Yahushua is six months younger than him (Luke 1:26)
• There is a reason Yahushua may deny individuals (Matthew 7:21-27)
• Verse 24 gives clarity, you must bear witness of His Word, then you
have the assurance of eternal life (John 15:7)
a. The word heareth in Greek-is a-ku-o- to understand,
perceive the sense of what is said, to give ear to a teacher
b. However, Israel who are black people, refused to listen
[Jeremiah 19:15]. Which resulted in punishment,
[Deuteronomy 8:11, 19]. Testify-to bear witness, to charge
c. God and gods have the same Hebrew meaning-elohiym-judge,
ruler, judges, divine ones, angels, god and goddess-Verse 20
d. They embraced the wrath, of disobedience, put YAH in
position to punish the wrath Ephesians 5:6; Romans 2:5;
1225 Revelation 14:10-11 – Scene illustrates two multitude of
people; those who accepts the world system and the other
who believe not in the world system but walk obedient to the
Word of Yahweh through his Son John 3:36
e. Final warning Romans 5:9 – Choose life in YEH while you still
have breathe,, for time of repentance will be long gone
f. Wise-fro-ne-mos – intelligent, mindful of one’s interest
(sandy and attractive, the rock, solid accepting Spirit of
Truth) Psalm 119:130
g. Yehoshua a teacher was sat apart, teaching as one who has
authority, because he is the originator of the Word, and the
people recognized this [Luke 6:40; John 14:6; John 10:1

1. Passages states two messengers are being sent 1 Corinthians 3:6
2. The first messenger is to prepare the way of the Messiah Isaiah 40:3-5
3. This messenger is identified as John the Baptist, who came in the spirit, and
power of Elijah, a prophet.
4. His work, call people to repentance he spoke only to Israel, they rebelled
against YAH’s Commandments, rejecting to learn the judgments inflicted
upon them (Malachi 3:7) (Matthew 3:1-3)
5. John and Yahoshua were united in their message on repentance, a call to
show Israel they are to return from idolatry to the covenant obedience
(Jeremiah 3:7, 10,14:4:1-2)
6. Repentance is a perquisite for entering the kingdom of heaven John 4:
Yahoshua and the Purpose of light
Ø John 1:5, the light-(Greek)-phos-the power to understand moral and
spiritual truth, light is exposed to the view of all, openly, and publicly
Psalm 119:105
Ø The light illuminates so it can create a new nature
Ø Nehemiah 9:12 –light (Hebrew)-owr-to become lighted up, to shine, to
become bright, illuminate-Proverbs 3:6
Ø Ephesians 1:18 – enlighten – (Greek)-photizo – fo-te-zo – to give -
understanding, to instruct, to inform
Ø Paul prayed that the eyes of the heart/mind be open because it is the
seat of thoughts
Ø Strong emphasis on seat of thoughts;
1. Our thoughts are powerful cosmic waves in the universe that
gives off energy –Proverbs 4:23; Romans 12:2
2. James 1:22
3. Our thoughts become words
4. Our thoughts become actions
5. Our actions become habit
6. Our thoughts become character
7. Our character become our destiny Luke 11:34-35
3. The Light shines in dark places. (John 8:12)
v Initial Word of YAH is shining around people John 1:5
v We are employed by the Spirit of Truth – Matthew 5:14, 16
v Darkness – scotia – darkness due to want of light, metaphor, used of
ignorance of divine things, and its resultant misery in hell – Matthew 22:13
v John is passionately informing the church without the Word we lose our soul
because the Word is life
A darken soul holds back the truth; Luke 18:31-34
• Deception results of a blind mind (Galatians 6:7-8)
• Disobedient breeds a darken mind (Judges 18: -20)
John 14:13-the name is used for everything which the name covers, everything the
thought or feeling of which is aroused in the mind by mentioning, hearing,
remembering, the name, i.e. for one's rank, authority, interests, pleasure,
command, excellences, deeds etc. Yehoshua ben Yosef
