This document discusses federal budget priorities and spending on children. It finds that while children represent the future and economic growth, they receive a relatively small portion of federal spending. Spending on children has declined as a share of the budget since 2010 and is projected to continue declining. It is more temporary, discretionary and lacks built-in growth compared to spending on older populations. The long-term outlook for children is especially troubling as interest on the debt is projected to surpass spending on children. Some potential solutions proposed include accounting for children more in budget projections, prioritizing children through new committees or positions, and improving policies around children's health care and dedicated revenue sources.

Each year, 15 million girls are married before the age of 18. That is 28 girls every minute – married off too soon, endangering their personal development and wellbeing. With more young people on our planet than ever before, child marriage is a human rights violation that we must end to achieve a fairer future for all.
Child brides are often disempowered, dependent on their husbands and deprived of their fundamental rights to health, education and safety. Neither physically nor emotionally ready to become wives and mothers, child brides are at greater risk of experiencing dangerous complications in pregnancy and childbirth, becoming infected with HIV/AIDS and suffering domestic violence. With little access to education and economic opportunities, they and their families are more likely to live in poverty.

Possible solutions include educating children about marketing and banning some ads, but these approaches have limitations and drawbacks. Overall, advertising has transformed children's culture into one increasingly focused on consumerism.

Children are heavily exposed to advertising, watching an average of 25,000 to 40,000 TV commercials per year. They influence over $130-670 billion in annual parental purchases. However, advertising has been linked to increased tobacco, alcohol, and drug use in children as well as rising obesity rates. While banning all child-targeted advertising is debated, solutions proposed include educating children about advertising's purpose and increasing non-branded children's programming.

16. HowDoesTeenagePregnancyAffectGirls?
• Adolescent pregnancy remains a major
contributor to maternal and child
mortality. Complications relating to
pregnancy and childbirth are the leading
cause of death for girls aged 15-19
globally. Pregnant girls and adolescents
also face other health risks and
complications due to their immature
bodies. Babies born to younger mothers
are also at greater risk. Etiam aliquet eu
mi quis lacinia. Ut fermentum a magna ut
eleifend. Integer convallis suscipit ante eu
varius.
• For many adolescents, pregnancy and childbirth
are neither planned, nor wanted. In countries
where abortion is prohibited or highly restricted,
adolescents typically resort to unsafe abortion,
putting their health and lives at risk. Some 3.9
million unsafe abortions occur each year to girls
aged 15-19 in developing regions.
• Adolescent pregnancy can also have negative
social and economic effects on girls, their
families and communities. Unmarried pregnant
adolescents may face stigma or rejection by
parents and peers as well as threats of violence.
Girls who become pregnant before age 18 are
also more likely to experience violence within a
marriage or partnership.

PREGNANCYIN
SCHOOL
INTERVENTIONS
In public schools, it may not
be a policy to kick out
students, but there arte
schools which automatically
kick out children who get
pregnant and automatically
also destroy their lives. And
this is where the enrichment
comes in. you have a right to
go back to school, you have a
right to be treated humanely.
DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones
