 Medical billing is the US healthcare process of generating healthcare claims and taking
follow-up on claims with insurance companies, for the purpose of obtaining payment for
medical services rendered by provider (Doctor) and provider organizations.
• Patient take treatment from the doctor and then doctor/medical billing company bills the claim to insurance
company for the payment for treatment, which given to patient.
• Doctor/Hospital hires Medical billing companies to perform medical billing process in order to save their time
for treatment, as Medical billing is very lengthy and time taking process.
Note: This filed comes under KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing) sector, this is also called RCM industry.
RCM stands for “Revenue cycle management”.

Every time a patient sees a clinic for medical treatment or evaluation, a medical chart is kept.
Medical coders review the medical chart and extract billable information, then translate into standardized
codes. (i.e. – CPT code, DX code, POS code, Modifier etc.)

AR is an accounts receivable follow-up team in a healthcare organization, AR follow-up & denial specialist is
responsible for all aspects of follow-up & collections on account. (i.e.: Responsible for collecting payment for
