What do LinkedIn endorsements mean?

LinkedIn endorsements are meaningless and provide no real value, as they are simply given out without thought or consideration for the person's actual skills or qualifications. True recommendations that people put real thought and care into providing carry much more weight, as they recognize those who truly excel and stand out in their field.

DiSC is a behaviour recognition technique that helps communicate with individuals in their dominant communication style. It is not about personality, because it does not measure values. It is about the behaviours that people exhibit in situations where they are experiencing higher levels of stress. These include sales situations, situations in which they are frustrated, situations that are complex in nature. The dominant behaviour style will come out as will the communication associated with this style. If communication styles are not matched correctly, confusion is sure to happen. DiSC is a tool to make more effective communications between co-workers, subordinates, and even supervisors. Please enjoy.

“Things I carry” is a SlideShare initiative. I initially responded to the challenge listing tangible things I regularly carry in my bag. Then I began to consider the bigger picture. What values do I take with me regardless of the weather, location or purpose? I settled on 5 things: the love of life, compassion for all those around me, commitment to everything I do, inquisitiveness about everything and everyone and, finally, integrity. These are the values I carry with me at all times.

Randonneur Cycling began in BC when the four founding members - Gerry, John, Dan, and Wayne - qualified for and then completed Paris Brest Paris in 1979. By the mid 1980s the growing group of Lower Mainland randonneurs was looking for a way to introduce new people to the sport. "Populaires" are short, unofficial randonneur events with some of the flavour of official "brevets" or "randonnees" (200 km+). These fun rides had been used elsewhere to introduce people to randonneur cycling. Sometimes populaires are also thought of stepping-stones to 200 km brevets. According to Dan McGuire: "My recollection is that Randy Clelland organized [the 1986 populaire] as a warm-up for the 200 and Marty Wanless promoted it to gain membership, and it went on from there."

I walk a lot. And, I prefer to meet on the streets or seawall instead of restaurants and cafes. The new meeting room. City streets. Everyone is more relaxed, thoughts flow more freely, solutions appear more readily and you return refreshed. I go prepared. Rain. Cold. Wind. And, sun. Nothing deters me. I would rather be outside than in. Would rather walk than sit. This is my shoulder bag and what I carry in it.
