Photographers use different terms like macro, micro, and close-ups to describe shots that magnify objects. A macro shot displays an object at a 1:1 ratio to its real life size, which requires a macro lens. There is little difference between macro and micro shots, as Canon refers to close-ups as micro while Nikon calls them macro. To take micro photographs, a microscope is needed to mount a camera and capture tiny objects 20 times their real life size.
