Making Mashups with Marmite, at CHI 2007Jason Hong
There is a tremendous amount of web content available today, but it is not always in a form that supports end-users’ needs. In many cases, all of the data and services needed to accomplish a goal already exist, but are not in a form amenable to an end-user. To address this problem, we have developed an end-user programming tool called Marmite, which lets end-users create so-called mashups that re-purpose and combine existing web content and services. In this paper, we present the design, implementation, and evaluation of Marmite. An informal user study found that programmers and some spreadsheet users had little difficulty using the system .

ACADEMIC PROJECT
Sentiment Analysis of Presidential Candidates 2016 April 2016 – May 2016
This project was created during the Information Visualization course taught at NYU Tandon by Professor Bertini. This
project intended to analyze how people in united states feel about the 2016 presidential candidates in Twitter, including
Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders.
• Collected and Saved tweets by a server based on Express, Node.js web framework through Twitter Public Stream
API for a month long period in MongoDB and utilize AFINN-based sentiment analysis to assign a sentiment score to
each tweet
• Utilized d3.js to visualize tweets’ sentiment scores for each candidate in every state of USA geographically
Neighborhood Social Network Web Application Two weeks in Dec. 2015
This project was a course project of Principle of Database System at NYU Tandon in two-member team, based on Google
Maps service. This project was like Nextdoor.com but focused more on sharing events which happened nearby and
building friendship.
• Set up a server using PHP and Apache server, and learned how to use Google Maps service
• Implemented the whole back-end service and MySQL database design, including user profile module, neighborhood
and block module, relationships module, and threads and events module
