MARKET WRAP
Indian market ends significantly up with gain of 2.7% throughout the week.
U.S. Unemployment claims came at 372K while Unemployment rate at 8.5%.
Global markets ended green; Asian ranging (-) 1 to 2.5%, US ranging 1%-2.5%.

Indian markets gains significantly this week due to positive global cues. Both

benchmark indices gains around 2.7%. Bank Nifty was the top gainer this week. For
India, the coming week will be very important. IIP (Nov.), inflation (Dec.) and Infosys
results are due next week. Lot more results are scheduled in the coming weeks. Nifty is
expected to remain consolidate this week, the level of 4820 may proves to be important
resistance breaking which it may go to 5000, while its resistance is at around 4600.

Food inflation witnessed a sharp moderation to (-) 3.36% for the week ended Dec24
from 0.42% in the previous week as prices of pulses & cereals become cheaper.
Inflation in primary articles was up 0.10% compared to 2.7% in the previous week.
India’s foreign exchange reserves continued their slide for the second consecutive
week, falling by over USD 4.18 billion to USD 296.69 billion, slipping below the long-
held USD 300-billion mark. Fuel and power inflation accelerated to 14.60% vs. 14.37%.

US stocks have strayed from their recent link to euro moves, and the start of US
corporate earnings next week could help shift investor focus back to US fundamentals
from Europe. European markets ended green ranging 0% to 2.7% with DAX leading;
U.S markets has also made gains with DJIA gaining 1.2%, S&P 500 up 1.6%, NASDAQ
ending 2.65% up. Asian markets were green with Hang Seng up 1%, Nikkei & KLSE
losing near 1% Strait times was up 2.6% and Jakarta made a gain of 1.25%.
