Editor's Notes

  • #3 Mental Health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community.
  • #7 Mental health is not just about the absence of mental illness. It is about having the capacity to cope with change, form positive relationships, and achieve goals. Supporting adolescent mental health is crucial for helping them thrive during this pivotal stage and into adulthood. Procedure: 1. Prepare a set of questions on a card. 2. Place the card inside a briefcase (it can be a folder with briefcase design). Each briefcase has a corresponding point inside. Points are randomly shuffled and covered. 3. Number of briefcases is based on the number of questions. 4. Divide the students into groups. 5. Place the briefcase in front of the class numerically arranged. 6. Instruct the students that they will work in groups to answer the questions and earn points inside the briefcase they choose. 7. The question inside the briefcase should be revealed first. Wait for their answer before disclosing the points contained within. Make the activity thrilling while opening the points inside the briefcase. 8. All groups will choose one briefcase but one at a time only to provide time for answering the question.

  • #29 Teens worry about body image and attractiveness, which can lead to low self-esteem or eating disorders.
  • #30 Conflicts, divorce, or lack of support at home cause stress and feelings of insecurity.
  • #31 Pressure to perform well can lead to anxiety, burnout, or fear of failure.
  • #32 Overuse, cyberbullying, and social media comparison impact mood and self-worth.
  • #33 Desire for acceptance and peer pressure can cause stress, influence risky behavior, or feelings of isolation.
  • #34 Day 2 (20 minutes)
  • #36 Time management – Use planners or apps to organize tasks and avoid last-minute stress. Break tasks into smaller steps – Reduces overwhelm and improves focus. Set realistic goals – Focus on progress, not perfection. Take breaks – Short breaks boost concentration and reduce burnout. Sleep well – 8–10 hours of sleep helps memory, focus, and mood. Exercise regularly – Reduces stress and improves mental health. Talk to someone – Sharing feelings with friends, family, or counselors can help. Practice mindfulness or meditation – Calms the mind and improves resilience. Avoid comparison – Focus on personal growth rather than competing with others. Ask for help – Teachers and tutors can offer support and clarification.
  • #37 Adolescents process their first romantic relationship through emotional highs and lows, learning about love, identity, and communication. They experience strong feelings, reflect on the relationship, and develop social and coping skills, especially during breakups. It's a key part of emotional and personal growth.
  • #38 Peer pressure influences adolescent decision-making by pushing them to conform to group norms to gain acceptance. It can lead to risky behaviors or positive choices, depending on the peer group. Teens are especially vulnerable due to their developing self-identity and desire to fit in.
  • #39 Perception – Recognizes the situation as stressful. Emotional reaction – Feels anxiety, fear, anger, or sadness. Assessment – Evaluates if they can handle it (coping ability). Coping response – Uses strategies like problem-solving, seeking support, or avoidance. Outcome evaluation – Reflects on what worked and what didn’t.
  • #40 Adolescents deal with body image pressure by comparing themselves to societal ideals, often influenced by media and peers. This can lead to self-consciousness, low self-esteem, or unhealthy behaviors. Some cope by seeking support, focusing on self-acceptance, or limiting exposure to unrealistic standards.
  • #41 Adolescents process the transition to independence by gradually questioning authority, making more personal choices, and seeking autonomy. They test boundaries, learn from mistakes, and develop their identity, while still relying on guidance and support from trusted adults.
  • #42 Adolescents form social circles based on shared interests, values, and proximity (like school or activities). These circles shape their behavior, self-esteem, and identity by providing support, belonging, or peer pressure, influencing how they see themselves and relate to others.
  • #43 When confronted with substance use, adolescents weigh peer influence, curiosity, perceived risks, and desire for acceptance. They may underestimate dangers, focus on short-term rewards, and struggle with impulse control, leading to risky decisions.
  • #44 Adolescents navigate online interactions by balancing self-expression, social approval, and privacy. They interpret feedback, manage peer pressure, and face challenges like cyberbullying or comparison, often learning through trial and error.
  • #45 Adolescents process failure by evaluating its cause and impact, which shapes their self-esteem. Positive support and mindset help them learn and build resilience, while negative reactions can lead to discouragement and lower confidence.
  • #46 15 MINS.
  • #47 3. Mood swings and irritability Withdrawal from friends and activities Risk-taking behaviors (e.g., substance use, reckless actions) Changes in sleep or eating patterns Difficulty concentrating or declining academic performance Feelings of anxiety, sadness, or hopelessness Aggression or defiance Low self-esteem or self-critical thoughts 4. Stay calm and think clearly before reacting. Break problems into smaller steps to make them manageable. Seek support from friends, family, or mentors. Develop good time management to reduce stress. Practice positive self-talk to boost confidence. Learn from mistakes instead of fearing failure. Use healthy coping methods like exercise, hobbies, or mindfulness. Set realistic goals and celebrate small successes. Communicate openly to resolve conflicts early. Ask for professional help if problems feel overwhelming.
