Wakeege Island Powerpoint
1.
2. Symbols are objects, figures, and colors used
to represent abstract ideas as well as
concepts. This guide gives insight upon items
that Wakeege Tribe members have chosen to
help bring civilization and order to the island.
3.
4. TOC
The rescue fire symbolizes our tribes’
connection to the civilization.
The fire is an important aspect of our
daily lives therefore it gives us hope of
being recused and reminds us that we
are here for a limited time only.
Provides comfort when cold.
Symbol for Hope and dedication for
not giving up
Symbol for consistency and control
over the outcome
5. TOC
Shelter serves as a symbol
of civilization and portrays
complexity of human mind
that is capable of building
complex figures to sustain.
Group members rely on
shelter from the elements
and adversity.
6. TOC
During our time on the
island through the
efforts of
Yasmin, Wajahat, and
Kashif the spear came to
symbolize dedication to
the cause of survival.
7. TOC
The scar of the island is
a sign of the destructive
nature of mankind and
it`s influence on the
earth. It was a reminder
to us that we need to
be careful lest we end
up like the boys in the
lord of the flies.
8. TOC
We never saw the island as
entirely ours for the taking. So
many times before that mistake
has been made and the result
was feuds directed at each other
because people failed to realise
the mistake in time. We instead
liken the island to a friends home
where we may be offered
resources but still we must be
respectful.
9. TOC
If the island is a friends home
then we are the unexpected
guests. While we were on the
island we understood that we
did not truly belong here and
that guests who are expected to
be respectful of the host must
be even more so when they
were never truly welcome.
10. TOC
The plane crash represents
the breakdown of the society
and civilization as the
corrupted ideas spread across
the world.
Failure or breakdown of
society in the world outside;
spread of corrupting ideas.
11. Yasmin was the one who was responsible for
making the decisions while on the island. She
as the leader participated in the construction of
the shelter, the storage pits and was the one
who built the groups for hunting and fishing.
TOC
12. We never really had anyone to make sure that the rules were
followed but if we could say that someone did try to enforce the
rules it would be Wajahat. The best example of his role as the
enforcer would have been during the incident with Kashif stealing
food where he was able to recover what Kashif stole and make the
entire incident appear as accident protecting Kashif as well.
TOC
15. First, we dug narrow, moderately deep holes within the sand then
put the mosquito netting inside the hole so our belongings will be
separate from the sand in the hole.
These holes were narrow enough to be covered by large heavy
rocks to keep animals and other predators from getting inside them.
We also used our droppings to our advantage.
16. We used them to fertilize and preserve some of the growth deep inside the
forest and just wash off and crops which we picked with boiled water, to clean
them.
