3. JESUS IS ARRESTED
“So the soldiers, theircommanding officer, and the temple guardsarrested Jesusand tied him up. First theytook him to Annas,Father-
in-lawof Caiaphas, the high priest that year. Caiaphas was the one who had told the other Jewish leaders, ‘Better that one should die
for all’.
Simon Peter followed along behind, as did another of the disciples. That other disciple was acquainted with the high priest, so he was
allowed to enter the courtyard with Jesus. Peter stood outside the gate. Then the other disciple spoke to the woman watching at the
gate, and she let Peter in.
Inside, the high priest began asking Jesus about his followers and what he had been teaching them. Jesus replied, ‘What I teach is
widely known, because I have preached regularlyin the synagogues and the Temple. I have been heard bypeople everywhere, and
I teach nothing in private that I have not said in public. Whyare you asking me this question? Ask those who heard me. They know
what I said’.
One of the Temple guards standing there struck Jesus on the face. ‘Is that the way to answer the high priest?’ he demanded.
Jesus replied, ‘If I said anything wrong, you must give evidence for it. Should you hit a man for telling the truth?’
Then Annas bound Jesus and sent him to Caiaphas, the high priest.”1

5. 1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
W. Nyabadza Law Chambers is a young and dynamic law practice with an interest
in Corporate and Intellectual Property Law. Established early 2015, the business
takes the form of a sole proprietorship. However, there are plans to transform and
expand the practice into a partnership with offices in Harare and Mutare. In the
long term, we hope to have a presence in the region.
The practice takes its name from the founder Mr. Walter Nyabadza. Ironically, it is
also dedicated to the founder’s grandfather Mr. Wilson Nyabadza from whom the
practice also takes its name.
Located in Bulawayo, the practice has Zimbabwe’s second largest City as its
residence. Dating as far back as 1893, “the City of kings” as it is affectionately
known, has a very rich history and is the industrial hub of the country. The High
Court, Magistrates Court and other offices of record and government are but a
stone’s throw away from the practice’s main offices at ZIMDEF House.
The practice is committed to providing a quality and innovative service which is
efficient, timeous and takes into account the best interest of each and every client.

7. 6. FEES
The practice has a competitive fee structure which is guided by the Law Society of
Zimbabwe “General Tariff of fees For Legal Practitioners”. As Legal practitioners,
the practice is professionally and legally obliged to charge fees for legal work which
are fair and reasonable in all the circumstances. The tariff is recommended by the
Council of the Law Society of Zimbabwe for application to all legal work undertaken
by legal practitioners, save where some other tariff is applied by law or where the
client has agreed to some other rate or basis of charging.
The general policy is that clients must put up a deposit to cover legal fees before
any attendances are made. The initial deposit is usually an estimate of the costs
involved, however, the figure varies from case to case.
Consideration is given to the individual and unique circumstances of each and
every client. To this end, a flexible approach to the question of legal fees is as
important to the practice as it is to the clients.
7. OPERATIONS
As a sole proprietorship, the practice is owned and managed by the principal. The
principal is responsible for all the operations of the practice. He is responsible for
policy and strategic planning, Financial Management, Information Management,
People Management, Risk Management, Client Care, File and Case Management
of the practice.

8. 8. PRINCIPAL’S PROFILE
It was at St Augustine’s Mission School, Penhalonga, that Mr. Walter Nyabadza became
interested in the study of law. Being of the Manyika tribe himself, he took much inspiration
from the likes of the late Herbert Chitepo and the late Chief Rekayi Tangwena with whom
he shares the same totem. Chief Tangwena fought bravely to retain his people’s land
when the colonialists drove them out of it at Inyanga.
He graduated with an LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in 2005 after which he
joined the Attorney- General’s Office, as it then was, as a law officer. In 2010, Mr.
Nyabadza became the legal advisor to the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT), a leading
technology university which focuses in the development, incubation, transfer and
commercialization of technology. He was instrumental in the drafting of the Harare
Institute of Technology Intellectual Property Policy Document in conjunction with the
African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (ARIPO).

9. He became a Candidate Attorney at Majoko and Majoko Attorneys and underwent
pupillage from 2012 to 2014. To date, he has done work for large corporations including
Hwange Colliery Company and United Refineries Limited. He has also done work for
Labour Unions such as Zimbabwe Amalgamated Railway Workers Union (ZARWU) and
Railway Association of Engineman (RAE).
The eldest son of an evangelical minister, Mr. Walter Nyabadza is a devoted Christian
and family man having been brought up in a conservative Christian family of five. He is
married to Martha, an educationist, and they have a son Tanaka Kennedy Nyabadza.
