Namasmaran means remembering the name of God, one's guru, or great souls through repetition. It can be done silently, loudly, alone or in a group, with or without counting beads. The practice aims to reunify one's physiological being with one's true self. As remembering one's true self is the culmination of individual consciousness, namasmaran is equivalent to opening the final pathway for consciousness from all activities to unify with cosmic consciousness. Thus, namasmaran is the yoga of all yogas, as it is the ultimate goal of consciousness in every yoga practice or technique.
