Studio
The general purpose of the Sustainable Communities
Studio is to expose PSPD Students to the issues of
sustainable development and the interdependence
and interrelationship of sustainable development to
global, national, regional and local programs, policies
and practices. The students enrolled in the class will
be responsible for the development of a sustainable,
resilient and responsive community neighborhood-based
plan, where economic, social, political and educational
opportunities for area residents are maximized.

BUSHWICK DEVELOPMENT
VULNERABILITY AND ZONING
1
Above:
The map above shows lots in Bushwick that are most vulnerable to develop-
ment based on a number of economic, landuse, and zoning based factors. Each
factor has been given a value, which when combined creates deeper shades of
orange. Those lots that are darkest may be most vulnerable to development
based on our analysis.
To the Left:
Each of these are examples are lots on the map that we found may be vulner-
able to development based on the factors listed above. Each example shows
what could happen to the lot should its zoning be changed to an R7 zoning,
which allows residential use at a large bulk size. These renderings are not
planned models, and are meant to provide an understanding of what could
happen should certain parts of Bushwick be rezoned.
