The document discusses the virtue of fortitude. It begins by introducing fortitude as the virtue of the month for March 2012. It then discusses what human life is about, noting that it is a quest for the supreme good and about willing the good and learning to love. Love requires virtue, and virtues like fortitude are needed to overcome life's difficulties. Fortitude disposes us to do what is good despite hardship. The document suggests fortitude is important today given hedonism and a culture that avoids sacrifice. It provides examples of practicing fortitude in daily life and quotes from St. Josemaria on persevering through challenges. In closing, it quotes Nelson Mandela on overcoming fear and shining one's light.

Having overcome a great many obstacles in his life, motivational speaker Ted Ryce is an expert at dealing with tragedies. After losing most of his family members, he learned that no matter how much you are hurting you must choose the pain that leads to success rather than the one that leaves you with regret for not having pursued the life you want.
In this session, Ted reveals how mastering your body and mind is the key to overcoming any adversity. Also, he will teach you powerful daily habits for developing a positive emotional state and proven mental exercises for building a strong mind and ultimately becoming unstoppable.
This presentation focuses on helping you understand a key point in personal leadership, which is to first live yourself. It was first presented at a special valentine edition of SuccessConverge in 2013
Luke 6: 17-26. The people who approached Jesus were healed. But the teaching continues... there is hope for those who suffer. For those who do not, there is still much to do, for rewards today are nothing compared to what the Lord has in store if you follow him and suffer for him
What happened to Samuel’s Children?
Why is God not harsh on Samuel like Eli and judging His house because of His Children?
What was the real reason behind the request for a KING?

This is an excerpt from a presentation about knowledge management. Here is my somewhat jocular criticism of the term "leverage" and preference for the concept of information flowing through organizations (demonstrated by a windmill).
A walk through of International issues in social media. Why translation and localization are not the same thing and why a strategy for global growth requires understanding the local social platforms.
One part entrepreneurial rally cry, two parts iterative dissection of internet trends, and one part philosophical meta-rant; this talk adds up to be one hell of a thought provoker.
Building on the basic theme of the version 1 of this talk, the "incomplete history of the internet" portion has been completely reworked to better reflect current trends, and comes to a completely different set of conclusions.

Paper abstract:
This paper uses data from 1,042 tweets posted by or mentioning Chicago Aldermen or Mayor Rahm Emanuel to examine how Chicago politicians use social media. Twitter provides a public communication medium in which constituents and their representatives can have two-way conversations that others can witness and record, and we used qualitative and social network methods to examine conversations between Chicagoans and representatives in city government. We coded the contents of each tweet over the two-week time period (e.g., official business, fundraising) and created representations of the social networks created by the users’ following behaviors. These networks indicate who receives politicians’ tweets and help identify the audiences for political messaging in social media. Our analysis indicates that Chicago’s Aldermen and Mayor use Twitter for social conversations more often than political ones, and that only a small number of Aldermen dominate the resulting conversation networks.

Just as a building needs a sturdy foundation to support the structure, you need a solid foundation to support your life.
Personal foundations will naturally vary depending on your circumstances. But they will always include core values, beliefs and highest life priorities supported by standards and behaviors that keep you strong, focused and effective.
Intelligence quotient in a world where digital transformation is a priority is very essential for young minister's wards. It's in our power to gainfully apply these resources for the furtherance of the gospel. 360 readiness makes gives us the tools required to spearhead any competition at various points in our lives.

13. How important is Fortitude
today?
The typical hedonist today does not aspire to
anything larger and higher, but settles for
"feeling good". Such a life does not require
fortitude.
But a truly meaningful life, one whose meaning
(direction) is determined in regards to man's
true end — which is the knowledge and love of
the greatest good — does indeed require a host
of virtues belonging to fortitude.
17. St. Josemaria says…
Don’t get lost in great thoughts of
heroism. Stick to daily realities, seek
perfection in ordinary work.
There God awaits us.
There we can tell him “yes” each
day. And our response should truly
be heroic, by striving to outdo
ourselves, by not putting any limits.

20. St. Josemaria says…
The person with fortitude is one who
perseveres in doing what his
conscience tells him he ought to. He
does not measure the value of a task
exclusively by the benefit he derives
from it, but rather by the service he
renders to others. The strong man will
at times suffer, but he stands firm, he
may be driven to tears, but he will
brush this aside. When difficulties
come thick and fast, he does not bend.

22. As quoted by Nelson Mandela
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest
fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not
our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who
am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who
are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small
doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about
shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to
make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in
some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence
automatically liberates others.
Fortitude is the virtue that disposes us to do what is good in spite of any difficulty. Man is naturally attracted to the good (real or apparent) and it is but natural for him to want it, to acquire it despite the difficulty. St. Thomas More showed this to us. Also, Fortitude is the love that bears everything for the sake of the object of our love. What is good should be loved, should be desired. St. Maximilian Kolbe’s love and concern for that family man moved him to offer his life.

A person who has fortitude thinks about the others. Kindness is the summit of fortitude. A person who lives fortitude learns to serve the others without thinking of himself. We should take note also that living fortitude would require patience. Many times the good that we want to achieve can’t be acquire in a matter of days. You want to be pious, you have to pray everyday, patiently without hurry. That requires fortitude. You cannot be pure in a matter of weeks or months or even years. The fight for purity is a lifetime fight. One has to be patient. One has to live fortitude everyday to keep himself pure.
You are a special breed of students. Your parents, teachers and sponsors have no other wish and hope for all of you than to be the best in any thing that your do. You are meant to be great! We have to strengthen you so you could be of great service to your family, to the society. You can’t be great if you don’t study well now! If you keep on complaining if you are given work to do. If you take things easily. If you don’t take things seriously. If you don’t remove from your system anything that separates you from God and thus preventing you from leading a life according to your nature, to be saint. Study well. Participate in the activities actively in spite of the sacrifices they entail. Fight your weaknesses. Do not be content with where you are now, with what you are doing now. Do more. Cada vez mas!
