This document discusses authorship attribution and forensic linguistics using machine learning techniques. It defines authorship attribution as identifying the author of an anonymous text. Authorship attribution has applications in plagiarism detection, author profiling, and detecting multiple collaborators. The process involves defining author classes, extracting features like word ngrams, character ngrams and part-of-speech tags from texts, training a machine learning classifier, and evaluating it using cross-validation. A demo applies these techniques to correctly attribute tweets and legal judgments to authors with over 90% accuracy. Open questions around authorship attribution with more authors, shorter texts, detecting author mood and obfuscation are also discussed.
The document discusses the concept of "Big Data" and argues that there is no such thing. It notes that the term is primarily a buzzword used in IT and defines the 4Vs typically associated with Big Data. However, it states that most companies actually have "Big, Data Problems" rather than true Big Data problems, and that traditional databases can still solve many problems. It advocates focusing first on properly defining, storing, and understanding data before worrying about issues of scale or using new technologies. Engineering, the right tools, asking the right questions, building strong teams, and continuous learning are more important than prematurely pursuing Big Data.
Overview of the PAN laboratory at CLEF 2016 in Évora.
It presents an overview on new challenges for authorship analysis from the perspectives of the cross-genre author profiling, author clustering and diarization, and author obfuscation.
The document introduces adaptive learning, which adapts educational material based on a student's responses. It discusses modeling student knowledge through knowledge components (KCs), which describe skills, facts, or concepts. Statistical and machine learning models can infer students' knowledge of KCs based on their performance over time. Common models discussed include Bayesian Knowledge Tracing, Item Response Theory, Additive Factor Model, and Performance Factors Analysis. These models calculate the probability students know a KC or will answer correctly based on their abilities and the KC or item difficulties. The goal is to accurately assess student knowledge to provide adaptive feedback and learning experiences.
Study: The Future of VR, AR and Self-Driving CarsLinkedIn
We asked LinkedIn members worldwide about their levels of interest in the latest wave of technology: whether they’re using wearables, and whether they intend to buy self-driving cars and VR headsets as they become available. We asked them too about their attitudes to technology and to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the devices that they use. The answers were fascinating – and in many cases, surprising.
This SlideShare explores the full results of this study, including detailed market-by-market breakdowns of intention levels for each technology – and how attitudes change with age, location and seniority level. If you’re marketing a tech brand – or planning to use VR and wearables to reach a professional audience – then these are insights you won’t want to miss.

2. Índex Vida Obra Situació històrica finals s. XVII i s. XVIII Influències del pensament Pensament de Voltaire
5. Situació històrica finals s. XVII i s.
