In this sermon we will look at Acts 11:1-18. This is the third time that Luke relates the story of Peter's "Zoo Picnic" vision as God prepares him to preach the gospel in the household of Cornelius. This repetition underscores how huge an adjustment God's mission to the Gentiles was for the Jewish believers who still valued their role as God's uniquely "chosen people." In the opening 3 verses Peter will deal with a sharp criticism that he ate with Gentiles. Peter will retell the story, demonstrating great humility and patience. These critics prove to be teachable and they embrace Peter's God-ordained mission. Their response teaches us some vital lessons about how to handle criticism in a Christ-honoring way by giving people a patient opportunity to get onboard with God's agenda.
