THE DIRECTOR
The first annual Victoria International Jewish
Film Festival (VIJFF) — launched in 2015 in
Victoria, BC, Canada — aimed to enhance
our audiences’ enjoyment of films with
Jewish themes and related content from
around the globe. We celebrate these films
as explorations of Jewish culture and as
artistic expressions of broadly shared
human values.
The Festival’s main objectives are:
to exhibit films with Jewish themes which
are not readily available at commercial
cinemas;
to create a sense of community by
bringing together film lovers who are
interested in, or wish to know more about,
Jewish culture;
to enhance appreciation of film artistry in
a variety of different genres and styles;
to provide a venue for independently
produced films that explore the complex
realities of Jewish cultures, history,
religion and identity around the world.
The Victoria International
Jewish Film Festival is a
project of the Jewish
Community Centre of Victoria,
British Columbia. The Centre
has been providing programs
and services in Victoria and
throughout Vancouver Island
