Vicks VapoRub temporarily relieves cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation associated with
the common cold. It can also be used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains on muscles and
joints. It also contains medicated vapors that enter the nose and mouth to help soothe a cough.
4. Pharmaceutical dosage form
Topical ointment. This is a semisolid preparation for external application to the skin or mucous
membranes. It can be inhale.

Apply 3 to 4 times a day.

7. Overdose
Although an overdose of Vicks VapoRub is unlikely if you follow the directions and keep it out of
the reach of children, it is important to know the signs of an overdose and respond immediately:
Stomach pain, vomiting, nausea. Burning sensation in the mouth or throat. Seizures and perhaps
muscles in spasm.
8. Side effects
There are few documented side effects for Vicks VapoRub but some have occurred. Because the
medication is topical (applied to the skin) the most likely side effects are skin irritations, rash,
redness, or hives. If you notice these side effects, you should discontinue the medication and call
your doctor.
9. Warnings
For external use only; avoid contact with eyes. Do Not Use by mouth, with tight bandages, in
nostrils on wounds or damaged skin.
