Welcome to our
Values Assembly
This month’s Values song is…
‘Count On Me’
by Bruno Mars (2012)
“A value is a
principle
that guides our
thinking and
behaviour.”
Let’s reflect on how thinking about
(enter previous month’s value)
did this?
Let’s remind ourselves
of all the values we
have in our
Values Toolkit so far…
Love
Compassion
Respect
Kindness
Responsibility
Peace
Equality
Courage
Hope
Consideration
Positivity
Trust
Honesty
Self belief
Self control
Pride
Confidence
Tolerance
Empathy
Patience
Determination
Friendship
This month we will be exploring the value of …
Which values
can we use
to help us show
FRIENDSHIP?
We can show FRIENDSHIP to
those close to us or far away.
We can show FRIENDSHIP to
people who we know and love
– or to people who we are
just getting to know.
At this time of the school
year, let’s reflect on our
friendships…
Who has been a
good friend to
you?
Who have you
been a good friend
to?
Good friends are like
stars.
You don’t always see
them, but you know
they’re always there.
Anon
A day without a
friend is like a pot
without a single drop
of honey left inside.
Winnie The Pooh
“Why did you do all this for
me?” he asked. “I don't
deserve it. I've never done
anything for you.”
“You have been my friend,”
replied Charlotte.
“That in itself is a
tremendous thing.”
E.B. White – ‘Charlotte’s Web’
?
To build classroom community built on friendships, you
could start ‘Secret Stars’.
Each ‘Secret Star’ is assigned a ‘Secret Student’.
They do something nice for this person each week
without letting them know who they are.
Ask everyone their opinions of this and create a ‘charter’
together. Discuss and evaluate each week.
(Examples: Secret Stars can perform an act of kindness, pay a compliment,
do a favour. No material gifts).
Building a classroom community of friends
How does Friendship
do this?
A quiet moment of prayer or reflection...
Friendship
A quiet moment of prayer or reflection...
As we reflect,
think about how
friendship
makes the world
a better place to be.
Here in our school
Let us be peaceful at all times.
Let our rooms be full of happiness
and respect for each other.
Let love be in our hearts
With kindness and compassion for all.
Let us remember
In learning together,
We grow together
And succeed together.
A prayer for all of us
What can YOU do
if you are feeling
lonely or feeling as
if you haven’t got
any friends.
What qualities
do you look
for in a good
friend?
How can more
people in the world
be more friendly?
What differences
would that
make?
What are the
consequences of
people being
UNFRIENDLY to
each other?
What might stop
one person
being friends
with another
person?
Thank you for listening
so well to our
Values Assembly.

  • #5 Time for a moment of reflection while children and staff think about how the value has shown in their lives during the last month. Encourage them to think of how it affected their own thinking and behaviour and also that of other people.
  • #7 Re-cap on previous values. Talk about building your ‘values toolkit’ and using them all the time. Delete those which haven’t been explored yet and/or replace with different values as appropriate. If you are in the second cycle, recap on all of the values from the first cycle.
