This document outlines a 3-part format for presenting a value case argument. The format includes: 1) an introduction that defines terms, states the value being argued for, and the criterion being used, 2) up to 3 contentions that each describe a status quo scenario, link it to the resolution and defended value, and explain the impact, and 3) a closing statement. The value case argues that adopting the resolution best upholds an important value or criterion, such as maximizing well-being or protecting rights and liberties.
