Tasks updated via My Tasks seem to be frozen until nudged by change Actual Work. What is different about a task that is updated in the client versus through My Tasks? Start with a project with Fixed Duration tasks, as Status Date of July 18 (red line) and some actuals. Calculation Options are set so that tasks with completed portions ending after the status date have the completed portions pushed just left of the Status Date. Enter 3 days into Actual Work for Task 3. The completed portion of Task 3 jumps to the left of the status date … as expected. Exit the client. Enter PWA/My Tasks, and enter 3 days of Actual Work for Task 4 in My Tasks. Re-openthe MSP client. Accept the update. Note that Task 4 shows actuals … to the RIGHT of the Status Date.
Even after leveling (ID Only), Task for seems to be frozen. (Priority is 500 like all the other tasks.) Nothing else has been done in the project but what is described here. Now, Enter 3 into Actual Work for Task 4 ..which is already 3 .. So no change. The completed part of Task 4 jumps to the left of the Status Date …as expected/desired. What does this Actual Work change trigger to restore the task to normal, expected behavior? Is there a setting that needs correction? F9 doesn’t do it. Is this known behavior? Setting? Defect?
