The unit circle is a circle with a radius of 1 centered at the origin in the Cartesian coordinate plane. It is used to define the six trigonometric functions and relate them to the angles of a right triangle. The unit circle allows us to graph trigonometric functions and understand their periodic and symmetric properties based on the angle of rotation around the circle.
