Completed for FILM 260 (Digital Media Studies), this flipbook explores the role that social media plays in a 21st century relationship and makes the argument that technology acts as a “third wheel”.
Synthesis Project
Naila Shah evaluated different technologies for use in student learning, including iPods, iPads, and microblogging via Twitter. She found the iPad to be the most versatile and convenient learning tool due to its note-taking and organizational applications. While iPods were useful for listening to lectures, iPads could perform the same function plus more. Naila also saw value in using Twitter to engage in discourse and apply concepts to real-world situations. Overall, she plans to continue using the iPad and Twitter the most to support her learning.

Modern digital technology is having both positive and negative impacts on children. Younger children are being exposed to technology like TV, mobile devices, and the internet at earlier ages. Some studies have found negative effects like decreased attention spans and reduced creativity from excessive screen time. However, educational apps and games can also provide interactive learning environments. While cyberbullying is a concern, video games may improve attention and skills in some areas. Overall, digital technology can be beneficial or harmful depending on how it is used with children.
